FG Free 100MB Daily Data for Students: How It Works (2026)

The FG's free 100MB daily data is restricted to approved educational websites.

The cost of internet data is a big problem for many Nigerian students. But the government wants to change this.

The Nigerian government has started a new program. It gives students 100MB of free data every day. They can use this data to visit approved learning websites.

The program started on October 1, 2026. I have watched education policies for years. This is one of the best ideas yet. However, many students are confused. Here is the simple breakdown.

What is the Free 100MB Data Program?

This program is meant to lower the cost of data for learning. Network providers like MTN, Airtel, and Glo are paying for the free data.

The goal is simple. It lets students read lecture notes and study online without spending money.

The NCC says 100MB a day adds up. It becomes 700MB a week. That is about 3GB every month, or 36.5GB a year.

Who Can Get the Free Data?

Right now, the program is only for students in public secondary schools and public tertiary schools (universities, polytechnics, and colleges).

Important Note: There is no public website to register yet. You cannot just register because you are a Nigerian. Your school must confirm that you are a student. You may also need a valid National Identification Number (NIN) to prove you are enrolled.

The government will check school records to verify students. So, make sure your school details are correct.

Which Websites Are Approved?

This data is not for general browsing. It only works on websites that the government has approved.

MTN has shared a list of approved websites. These include:

  • Inspire: inspire.education.gov.ng

  • Ignite: ignite.education.gov.ng

  • Edurevamp: edurevamp.education.gov.ng

  • WAEC Online Integrated System: waeconline.org.ng

  • WAEC e-Study: estudy.ng

  • WAECKONNECT: waeckonnect.com

  • Federal Ministry of Education eLearn Platform: elearn.education.gov.ng

The NCC also listed other types of platforms. These include online libraries and government portals.

How Does the Free Data Work?

It is very simple. You do not need to dial a USSD code or download an app.

It is Automatic

When you visit an approved website, the 100MB is added to your line. This happens by itself.

It is Used First

If you have your own data plan, the free 100MB will be used first. This saves your personal data for other things.

It Expires Daily

The free 100MB is only for one day. It expires at 11:59 PM that same day. It does not add up for tomorrow.

It is Only for Education

You cannot use this data for Instagram, YouTube, or WhatsApp calls. The data only works on the approved websites.

What If You Are Not on MTN?

MTN has already started the program. Other networks like Airtel and Glo will follow soon.

If you are not on MTN, wait for news from your network. Do not click on fake links asking for your details. The process is automatic.

Avoid These Scams

Scammers are already trying to trick students. Be careful.

  • There is no sign-up link. Do not enter your personal details on any website saying you can register.

  • It is not free general data. If someone says you can get 100MB for browsing any site, it is a scam.

  • Only use official websites. Make sure the link is exactly the same as the ones listed above.

Final Thoughts

This free data program is a big win for digital learning. It removes a huge money problem for millions of students.

The program is still new. There is no full sign-up process yet. But it is already working on MTN right now.

If you are in a public school, make sure your NIN is active. Also, check that your school records are correct. Soon, this will help students all over Nigeria.

A color-coded map of Nigeria showing the cost of living tiers for NYSC corps members: red for high, yellow for medium, and green for low. The moment of truth has arrived. You've opened the portal, and your NYSC call-up letter is staring back at you. For better or worse, your state of deployment is sealed. The excitement (or dread) is quickly followed by a very practical question: Can I actually survive on the federal allowance ("allawee") in this state? Having spoken with dozens of corps members who have served across different regions, I have seen first-hand how far proper financial planning can stretch that allowance. Understanding the cost of living is the key to planning your finances and making your service year a success. Here’s a pract...
